Progressive hearing loss

Definition: some individuals early in life, at age 15 and older, may lose hearing for no reason.

Symptoms/possible causes: missing words and not able to communicate well and these symptoms are getting worse year after year. The hearing loss may be fluctuant, meaning hearing goes up and done daily.

Possible course of treatment: after a careful ear exam, hearing tests, possible blood work and possible MRI scan, hearing aids are given if no cause is found.
