Hearing loss from aging

Definition: as an adult gets older, especially over 65, one may lose hearing.

Symptoms/possible causes: missing words, not understanding words and not able to communicate well with others. Causes could be hereditary or acquired (noise exposure).

Possible course of treatment: after a careful ear exam, a hearing test is done to determine the amount of hearing loss that exits, and if the hearing loss is bad enough, hearing aids are the only treatment.
